Soon there will be an election in Chile, BTW this country is doing quite well, once again the “left” is running a sale, free education, high minmmum wage, welfare system, and the usual “vote buying” strategies, what is really dissapointing is that the “right” is talking about a “fair” society. In the US war has not stopped, in Europe nothing has been fixed, in fact, Europeans are worse off than the inhabitants of some emerging economies. Both sides say that the other has failed, the “left” saya that the free market has failed, the “Right” says Socialsm has failed, So, would you like a diagnosis ? It seems democracy has failed.

Hello again:

I recently posted about hydraulic fracturing (or fracking for short), my previous post was a reasoned post, I was told it was bad, and I just bitched because my government allowed it. I assumed that the usual causes (big Money and politicians) were involved in this. But it’s not something like “We allow the sale of cigarrtettes, alcohol and (legal) addictive drugs because of Money, but you can choose not to consume them”. I ended up researching about it and it’s psychotic.

Let me put this in context, the fact of the matter is that there are effluent regulations, in industry in general, industries simply  cannot discharge hazardous chemicals into the environment, and if they do, they are prosecuted, the environment agencies monitor these effluents and keep a close watch on them, the same with emissions, there are laws forcing companies to decrease theit greenhouse gas emissions.

Now, imagine my surprise, when I found out that fracking is allowed in countires with these regulations, once again let’s keep in mind that if you change the oil in your car and were so unconscious as to throw your used oil in the drain and got caught, you would be fined and probably “jailed” (even though you will not actually go to jail, you would get probation, at least the first time), and energy companies  are allowed to inject fracking fluid into the ground, now “fracking fluid” does not seem bad, until we look at what it contains, now just imagine what your government would do to you if you dumped the following chemicals in your back yard:

WARNING!!! – GEEK STUFF AHEAD…. (Got all this from Wikipedia, I also confirmed it in several other sites, including government agencies, so let’s remind them it was there,  if people start dying, they can`t say they didn’t know).

Additives can include one or more of the following:

Acids—hydrochloric acid (usually 28%-5%), or acetic acid is used in the pre-fracturing stage for cleaning the perforations and initiating fissure in the near-wellbore rock.

Sodium chloride (salt)—delays breakdown of the gel polymer chains.

Polyacrylamide and other friction reducers—minimizes the friction between fluid and pipe, thus allowing the pumps to pump at a higher rate without having greater pressure on the surface.

Ethylene glycol—prevents formation of scale deposits in the pipe.

Borate salts—used for maintaining fluid viscosity during the temperature increase.

Sodium and potassium carbonates—used for maintaining effectiveness of crosslinkers.

Glutaraldehyde—used as disinfectant of the water (bacteria elimination).

Guar gum and other water-soluble gelling agents—increases viscosity of the fracturing fluid to deliver more efficiently the proppant into the formation.

Citric acid—used for corrosion prevention.

Isopropanol—increases the viscosity of the fracture fluid.

The most common chemical used for hydraulic fracturing in the United States in 2005–2009 was methanol, while some other most widely used chemicals were isopropyl alcohol, 2-butoxyethanol, and ethylene glycol.

Typical fluid types are:

Conventional linear gels. These gels are cellulose derivatives (carboxymethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, carboxymethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, methyl hydroxyl ethyl cellulose), guar or its derivatives (hydroxypropyl guar, carboxymethyl hydroxypropyl guar) based, with other chemicals providing the necessary chemistry for the desired results.

Borate-crosslinked fluids. These are guar-based fluids cross-linked with boron ions (from aqueous borax/boric acid solution). These gels have higher viscosity at pH 9 onwards and are used to carry proppants. After the fracturing job the pH is reduced to 3–4 so that the cross-links are broken and the gel is less viscous and can be pumped out.

Organometallic-crosslinked fluids zirconium, chromium, antimony, titanium salts are known to crosslink the guar based gels. The crosslinking mechanism is not reversible. So once the proppant is pumped down along with the cross-linked gel, the fracturing part is done. The gels are broken down with appropriate breakers.

Aluminium phosphate-ester oil gels. Aluminium phosphate and ester oils are slurried to form cross-linked gel. These are one of the first known gelling systems.

END OF GEEK STUFF…

Now today, in the city where I live, we cannot use our fireplaces, “too much soot” the say, well, I am really concerned that I have to “properly dispose of” my used oil, batteries, etc. And my elected and well paid officials are allowing fracking, it’s plain insanity, it is this simple, if you can`t say it or don`t have a clue of what it is, it doesn’t belong in our water table (or anywhere near it BTW).

I don`t really know what half of that stuff is, but I’m pretty sure I would not be allowed to dump it anywhere, so how is it that energy companies are allowed to PUMP IT into the ground ?.

Sorry to mess up your day

Hello Again:

First let me point out that I am not an enviromentalist, I really don’t care much about the issue and I go through my life like a normal citizen; having said this, I want to explain myself befoe you freak out on me. I buy fuel, buy electricity as well as products and don`t concern myself about what these companies do with the environment because I have elected officials who are my representatives in congress and are supposed to take care of these things.

This is basically the way life is organized, I go to work, make money, then go buy bread, I assume my baker makes bread with clean water and raw materials which will not kill me (at least not poison me). So we have a sort of hierarchy in life, my responsibility is to send my kids to school, I assume the school does a good job, I am not a teacher, therefore I must trust the teacher does a good job, that is where my responsibiliy ends, I have elected officials who get paid part of my wages to monitor schools and teachers.

Today, I found out on the news that fracking pollutes (WAIT, actually poisons the water table) and leaks methane (100 times stronger as a greenhouse gas than CO2) into the atmosphere, well, that is not really  my problem (in fact it is, but there is nothing I can do about it). There is a group of people in government who charge me to prevent this, there is a whole bureaucratic system which, if it did it’s job, this problem wouldn`t exist.

You have an EPA, or a ministry of the environment, or wahtever this agency is called in your country who are supposed to say to these companies: You are going to do WHAT ?

The same thing with education, if you have kids, (teenagers) turn around and ask them: where is Finland, or Bolivia for that matter, if he/she can’t answer, or tell you Bolivia is a province in Mexico, you must be concerned, there are less than 300 countries, and if your kid doesn’t know where these are, he is in trouble, and of course there is a group of bureaucrats who have not been doing their jobs for the last 15 years.

So, fracking is dangerous, horribly polluting, has a higher carbon footprint than burning coal (even before burning the gas), so simply, our governments should not allow it, no matter how much these companies contribute to their campaigns, because at the end of the day, their salaries are paid by us, and please gentlemen, we woul really appreciate you did your jobs for a change.

Have a nice day

Well, it’s sabre rattling time in the world once Again, the world got rid of Gaddaffi, personally I kinda liked the guy, religious freak, semi-psychopath, he was one of the textbook psychos, with his uniform, kind of like a hollywod third world dictator, he’s not in the picture anymore, now keeping up the Hollywood tradition, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad appears, you will ask who is he ?, the president of Iran (old Persia, the descendants of Xerxes from the movie 300),If your thing is Hollywood, or if you are a little behind in your bad guys, the Ayatollah’s place. That’s quite a big country and they want  an atom bomb bad, I don`t know if the atom bomb is for their negihbors or for the US, but they want one. Maybe they want it because the US will even invade Grenada if it’s a slow week. Who knows.

Now Little Kim is asking for a slap in the mouth, the other day I was watching the news and he had a parade (a military one of course), and among the dangerous “weapons of mass destruction” (Does that sound familiar ?) they had some bombs which looked suspiciously like V1’s, not the same  but the same principle. As well as some farming equipment, you can see in the picture the “Farming war division”.

Please remeber that this is actually Chinese machinery, if you ever have the chance, go drive a chinese car to a dealer, now think how that  will actually do if shot at.

Little Kim does not understand that not only the US likes war (at least the military industrial complex which runs the presidency does), they may not really be good at it, but they can even multitask, that means that it’s no problem for the US to be fighting a war, and start another one half way around the world. Remeber that  “Fifth” fleet, means there are “at least” another four.

Well, let this be a warning to little Kim, if you go to war with the US, you have some “minor details” which are against you.

1) The US is currently fighting two wars, so the military indurstrial complex are making their money already.

2) If the US spends any more money in weapons and militry contractors there is a possibility these will not be paid.

3) As it is, the US has been dragging their feet in Iraq and Afghanistan to help the weapons industry and contractors make money, and war 2.0 is still a possibility with Iran.

So, you might actually go to war with the real United States, the most powerful army humanity has ever seen, and the conditions are ripe for them to use all of it on you AT ONCE !

I believe the last time the US actually entered a war with the purpose of winning it was in 1941, and we all know how that one ended.

So little Kim, ask the chinese for some picks and shovels and get digging, because at least in my opinion, if you go to war with the US in this political and economic context, your people are going to develop night vision from staying in the tunnels and shelters, and we will at last have an actual wasteland where to make movies like Mad Max and the sort.

Please buddy, keep in mind that the phrase “they don`t make them like they used to” is actually true, there are no ICBM’s which are “as small” as the Hiroshima bomb anymore.

BTW, one last tip, when you YOURSELF!!!!!  tell the world “I have nukes and I am willing tu use them”, the CIA and MI6 don`t even need to make up an excuse to have the US and Britain bomb the shit out of you, Bush might come out of his hole and say “I told y’all those Ayrabs had nucular weapons”, and if in your schizophrenic dreams you really believe you can actually make a dent in the US, let me do the math for you.

BIG country nukes little country, = you die out, (notice I did not say die, i actually meant “die out”).

This is not going to be a war, it’s going to be an extintion event.

Have a nice day !

So, the financial system in Cyprus was about 4 times its GDP, and nobody asked anything about it, he bankers and brokers kept on piling up phony figures until it all collapsed, then the government decided to tax anyone who had deposits over 100.000 Euro.

This hurt small business owners, peple who had sold goods to buy other goods, people who had their life savings in the bank, and all of those who actually produced something in Cyprus.

Most certainly the government didn’t ask the bankers and brokers to fund their measuers or the bailout, it’s always those people who produce, save and do things who end up paying for the felonies of the loansharks and stock exchange criminals.

It’s about time people start hitting them where it hurts the most, and I don`t mean go out in the streets to yell waving signs, all that has to be done is to go, buy some gold or silver and pull out, just take your money out of the system; if you have your life savings in banks take them out, acually, do it slowly, one at a time, close your credit cards, take your savings out, buy gold or diamonds and stash them under your matress, pay your loans and do what needs to be done.

Since our governments have been bought and paid for by them, just leave the table, do not play their game, banks are and have been a cancer for several years, living on the reputation and achievement of last century banks, those banks aimed at production and profit by generating value, today banks are a tumor, If you have a tumor in your body, do not feed it, simply starve the tumor to death,

Have a Nice day

chavezIt’s hard to be objective about this issue, I am a “right winger”, I am so right wing that I would call a US republican a socialist, but Even though sometimes I might not like the results of elections, I do respect the democratic system, it is the system of choice and we all must abide by it (well, except Cuba which is a monarchy now).

This is a sad day for Venezuela, more than half the venezuelans are mourning their leader, almost half of the venezuelans are mourning because they have a new martyr in yown, the rumor is that Chavez was already dead, but the result is the same. Latin American culure dictates that anyone who dies is by default a good person, and in time, all the bad things anyone might have done are forgotten and only a godlike image remains in their followers minds. As an example, remeber the Che Guevara, terrorist, murderer, but also an idealist who ended up dead and remebered, even used as a symbol of peace. Juan Domingo Perón in argentina, a fascist dictator, but all the bad things forgotten, Pinochet in Chile, also a dictator (elected president later but in an “odd” election), also, his followers tend to equate him with some sort of godlike figure.

So the venezuelan politicians opposing Chavez (Maduro now), will have the problem of dealing with an opponent which cannot be attacked, simply because he is dead, all the political slogans will be “As Commander Chavez would have wanted it”. So, Chavez died but Chavism is stronger than ever, damaging the economy and the image of the region, as long as Latin America has countries with governments like Venezuela, Bolivia or Argentina, the stability of the region is compromised.

Most of you in the rest of the world do not know about the plight of the venezuelan exiled, those who had to leave Venezuela, just because they had earned more money, or some who decided they wanted a better fure than standing in line to buy bread or a chicken, and left to live in other countries, how the children under 15 were deprived of their ID cards and passports to prevent them from leaving the country (to force their parents to stay), these hard working venezuleans who are now in Chile (where I live), some with university degrees working in minimum wage jobs (or almost), who will not return to their country until they can be assured their rights will be respected. (first hand testimony from several venezuelans).

gaddafi-chavezFriends with Gaddaffi, Funding Cuba, Funding Argentina, and Bolivia, more than 15 billion dollars a year to fund enemies of the US, leaving venezuelan citizens in misery.

Well, may he rest in peace, my condolences to his family and friends, because you should always mourn the dead, even if he is your enemy.

Prayer for Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day)

Lord, remember not only the men of good will, but also those of ill will. But do not remember all the suffering they have inflicted upon us. Remember rather the fruits we have brought, thanks to this suffering: our comradeship, our loyalty, our humility, the courage, the generosity, the greatness of heart that has grown out of this. And when they come to judgment, let all the fruits we have bourne be their forgiveness.

Or, as a friend of mine would say, Remembered, but not forgiven

Have a nice day.

I have been thinking (for a change) about our leaders, they always talk about “the people”, the somwhat own a crystal ball which allows them to telepathically or by using a sixth sense to know what “we” want or need.

It seems “we” need to have part of our income forcibly taken to fund our healthcare and retirement, which is a great concept, I will fund my retirement and my healthcare willingly. Now it seems that my money is being handed over to a company which invests these funds and generates millions (some say Billions) in revenue, I don`t mean that these companies should not be paid for their work, or that the people who handle those funds should not be paid for their work, but I have been told that these companies have told us that in time we will be retiring, but that the money which we paid for our retirement will not be enough to pay for the rest of our lives. OF COURSE NOT, they have shown enormous profit figures, it is a great business, pension funds are being bought all around the world, and healthcare is an amazing business with billions in profit. If the profit was just “a little bit” less, maybe the money would be enough, but our politicians do not even flinch when they read the profit in the papers, it’s just like banks, high risk loans are charged higher interest rates, credit cards go above 50%, which makes it high risk (when you apply high interest rates to low income people).

So, we have low wages, a central or federal reserve bank which loans money to banks (which already has an interest rate), imagine, the money you are paid for your work is already a loan, then since you make very little, you need loans to buy things, therefore you pay interest to the bank (and they include the interest of the central or federal reserve  bank) so you pay it!.

I know their campaigns were funded by this people, I know I should not expect our leaders to defend us (they have been bought and paid for), but I still have hope, that one honest politician remains somewhere, someone who will put an end to this, it’s too much.

The government takes what it wants, and taxes what it leaves behind…

Have a nice day

Hello: Sometimes we have to resort to action, so here’s the situation.

Banks in Spain are reposessing homes, according to the banks they had between 5 and 10% toxic debt, thier profins have been masive for the last decade. They doctored the libor rate to STEAL from their customers.

The European Government GAVE them taxpayers’ money at 0’% interest.

They are still charging high rates, and fining their customers, also foreclosing them even though all those loans were funded by the taxpayers. Citizens are committing suicide due to this.

They havent transferred to their clients the conditions and rates they received from the government.

Please study the figures.

This is a cry for help.

Have a nice day

I’ve been hearing this for decades, educate your people, this is the foundation of progress, those countries who have more university graduates look down upon those which have less. But not because everybody believes or repeats something does this become the truth. I am not against education, don`t get me wrong, but there is a sort of general belief that if a country has enough university graduates (lawyers, doctors, engineers) then economic progress will simply appear.

Let me tell you something, that is simply wrong, it has been said by the socialist for decades (I guess because its at the universities where they brainwash the young into their belief system), so everybody MUST graduate from the university. Let’s get back to the hard facts.

Argentina, Spain, Cuba and Sweden, have free universities, their respective unemployment rates are above 20% and in the younger population as well as for that over 50, Spain goes above 50%. and their economies are in massive recessions. The average income in Cuba BTW is 30 US$ per month.

On the other hand, Chile and Colombia, with growth rates above 5% have paid (and very expensive) universities, and China, the growth in China is not caused by university graduates, (at least not yet), it’s just the ingenuity of the enterpreneurs and plain old fashioned hard work which does the trick.

So a clear set of rules of the game, stable economy, low (or at least decent, not psychotic)  taxes, not too much bureaucracy, low corruption levels, and that’s it, if all the previous variables are not there, there will be no economic growth, no matter how many degrees you pile up on top of it.

Have a nice day

raulOK, let me get this straight, Cuba is a socialist (or communist) republic, but it looks more like a monarchy, Fidel Castro cannot rule anymore, so by the glory of the party (in monarchies it was by the glory of God) his heir is his brother. Today Raul Castro is in Chile, attending an international summit, I believe there is no doubt whatsoever that the “Castros” have acted against human rights, have murdered hundreds if not thousands of political opponents, have  exiled tens of thousands of cubans, have those cubans who want to leave Cuba trapped against their will, whenever a cuban professional leaves cuba as slave labor (the cuban government sells doctors to other governments for 3000 US$ a year and pay them 300 US$) their families stay as hostages.

So what the hell is wrong with amnesty international, human rights watch, all the NGOs the UN etc. ? trying to setup democracies in the middle east and having someone much worse than Saddam Hussein in America.

If Pinochet was arrested in London why doesn’t Castro get arrested in Chile ?

Meanwhile Chavez, Morales and Kirchner defend the undefendable (well Chavez is about to die, or at least it is rumored), but he has a heir also, mr. Maduro, his buddy, so forget about elections in Venezuela, that will not happen again, and if it does, the result will always be the same, in Cuba too, and wait, Argentina and Bolivia will follow.

So, please stop worrying about the middle east and start looking at America, America is bleeding through these open wounds on the fabric of freedom.

Have a nice day
